The Arts

At All Saints Academy, we take the traditional STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) program one step further by adding The Arts to create STEAM. Our STEAM goal is not only competence and knowledge of these various subjects, but also demonstrated application. Applied knowledge means an increased depth of learning, regardless of the subject matter. Adding The Arts into STEM creates a holistic approach to learning, especially for those students who excel in dance, art, and music.

Our students receive a well-rounded, in-depth education. Upon graduation, ASA students think creatively and solve problems effectively in order to positively change the world around them. We believe our students deserve a strong educational foundation in STEM, and we focus heavily on teaching the necessary skills in these subjects. Adding on to that foundation, we also emphasize the importance of The Arts through classes ranging from music and drama to drawing and painting -- even in our Early Childhood and Lower School classrooms. All Saints believes that each of these areas plays a vital role in a well-rounded education, and creates an ultimate learning experience as depicted in our Innovation Studio courses in the Baldwin Center for Innovation & Collaboration.

Scientists need to know how to communicate and write well. Those in technology often need creative design skills to enhance their work. In this way, the curriculum at All Saints Academy is grounded in STEAM-based learning. It best embodies our end-goal -- for students to be well-thought in each subject and know how to apply that knowledge in every circumstance to achieve optimum results.

  • Dance

Students across all divisions receive instruction on this important artistic expression. As early as PreSchool, our students embrace the opportunity to tell a story through movement. In the Middle and Upper Schools, dancers perfect technique and balance artistic flare through dedicated dance courses taught in our on-campus Dance Studio.

Full-school dance events are scattered throughout the year like the Homecoming half-time show and annual end-of-year Dance Show, along with Middle and Upper School studio shows and dance showcases. Our older dancers often visit the Lower School to help their younger peers to perfect technique and develop a love of movement. In addition to on-campus performance opportunities, our Dance Ensemble group participates in numerous competitions and workshops throughout the year.
  • Vocals

Choir at All Saints Academy provides singers the opportunity to perform in a variety of styles. Beginning in the Lower School, students focus on developing voices through solid vocal technique. Students perform a variety of musical styles with their respective choral group. The Cherub Choir is Kindergarten and First Grade; Angel Chorus is Second and Third Grade and Singing Saints is Fourth and Fifth Grade. Students in choir at the Lower School learn to develop solid vocal technique through ear training, sight reading, and part singing.

Show Choir is a class for advanced singers who are ready to meet the challenges of difficult repertoire and a cappella singing. Show Choir focuses on developing the singing voice as well as developing the musical skills needed to pursue music on the college level.
  • Strings

For each student at All Saints Academy, music plays a vital role in his/her academic journey. Our strings program offers numerous performance opportunities for all students to showcase their talents as part of on-campus events as well as auditioned groups like Florida Orchestra Association, All-State and All-County Orchestras. Students also create and participate in chamber ensembles to encourage collaboration.

Some students arrive at All Saints Academy with significant playing and performing experience and find themselves among a group of peers with similar musical backgrounds. Equally, other students arrive at All Saints Academy ready to discover new musical experiences and develop new musical skills. Beginning in 3rd grade, all students begin playing the violin and have the opportunity to progress to the viola, cello and other stringed instruments during their career at All Saints. The teacher and student work together to determine which instrument is the best permanent fit.
  • Theatre

As part of our Performing Arts Department, our drama and theatre courses offer students diverse opportunities to develop skills in all aspects of performance and production. Activities guide students toward an understanding of performances as a form of communication and expression. Each year, our student-actors have the chance to perform in student-created shows as well as faculty-directed stage productions. Students regularly perform in our on-campus black box theatre and bring all-school musicals to life on larger stages like the Historic Polk Theatre.
  • Visual Arts

Our Visual Arts program spans the Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools with curriculum that emphasizes artistic techniques, critical thinking, and the development of creative ideas.

Student art exhibitions take place on campus throughout the year to showcase original student-designed pieces. Our students' work often earns entry into local, regional, state, and at times national art contests and competitions. At various locations around campus, the beauty of our students’ artistic expression is highlighted in the form of murals and galleries.
