College Advising

The College Advising Office's goal is to help our students identify and apply to colleges that offer opportunities and challenges that match their individual aspirations, needs, and interests.

College Advising at All Saints centers on the particular abilities, needs, and desires of each student and family. Our goal is for each student to be admitted into colleges that both appeal to the student and also fit his or her academic, co-curricular, and personal profile. Ultimately, we believe that each student should control the self-evaluation, research, and application writing essential to good college selection.

Deciding which colleges are most appropriate can be tied to many factors: academic atmosphere, geographic location, diversity of the student body, athletic teams, arts offerings, extracurricular and internship opportunities, overseas studies programs, scholarships and financial aid. We provide extensive on-campus resources to help students sort through these considerations, so they may prepare thorough and compelling applications.

In addition to maintaining day-to-day contact with students, ASA college advisors maintain contact with college admission representatives throughout the country by personally visiting college campuses and by attending professional conferences. Our annual college trip for ASA Juniors enables students to see college campuses and speak with college admission representatives.

Beginning in Junior year, students and parents meet with ASA College Advisors in numerous one-on-one advising sessions and in small groups to frequently review standardized testing, applications, college interviews and visits, writing essays, and the financial aid process. During Senior year, our College Advisors assist students in completing the application process and submitting all information in a timely manner.
