The internet provides a wealth of information which will aid you in the college search and admissions process.  The following are just a few of the sites that provide information on individual colleges, financial aid, college entrance testing and test prep, athletics,  and summer programs.

College Search and Information Sites

Every college has its own web site.  These sites offer information about admissions policies, curriculum, visitation policies, tour times, athletic schedules, and coaches' email addresses, etc. To find colleges of interest, spend time exploring the following college search databases:

www.petersons.com - offers a comprehensive college search database and prescriptive standardized test preparation
www.princetonreview.com - includes a college search database and standardized test preparation information
www.collegeboard.org - offers online SAT and SAT Subject Test registration, a comprehensive search engine, a scholarship database, and college and career planning materials
www.act.org - offers online ACT with Writing registration, a college search database, and standardized test preparation
www.kaplan.com  - includes links to college web pages, advice on interviews and college admission, and standardized test preparation information
www.commonapp.org - Students will find the Common Application, required supplements, and instructions
www.edonline.com/cq/hbcu - includes a listing of Historically Black Colleges and Universities
www.nacacnet.org - National Association of College Admissions Counseling website contains importand information for college counseling professionals.  Many articles are also of interest to parents of college-bound students.

Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program

This state-funded program recognizes and rewards exceptional students who meet specific academic requirements.  Students can earn a scholarship that can be applied to tuition and fees at any public or private college or university within the state of Florida.  The two award levels that our students may qualify to receive are:  Florida Academic Scholars Award (FAS) and Florida Merit Scholars Award (FMS).

Requirements for both levels of award include 16 credits* of college preparatory academic courses:

            4 English (3 with substantial writing)
            4 Mathematics (Algebra I and above)
            3 Natural Science (2 with substantial lab)
            3 Social Science
            2 Foreign Language (in the same language)

            Total: 16 credits*

*To raise the GPA, students may use up to 3 additional credits from the academic areas listed above.  For the most complete and up-to-date eligibility requirements and listing of award amounts, visit www.FloridaStudentFinancial Aid.org/SSFAD/bf/awardamt.htm.
