7th Grader Tyler Pate Represents FL in US Tennis Association (USTA) Zone Team Championships
New All Saints' Academy student Tyler Pate is an outstanding tennis player and will represent Florida in USTA Championships.
Tyler, a 7th grade student, has had a great summer and a very exhausting training schedule. Tyler is currently ranked #21 in Florida and #268, nationally. At the USTA Florida State Closed Singles Sectional Boys 12's, Tyler made it to the final 8 players (Quarter Finals) in the main draw before losing to the player who became the Champion. This tournament is a draw of 64 players.
In the first round, Tyler beat Victor Gurevich, the 5th seed who is #8 in the state and #41 in the nation. The score was 6-3,6-2.
In the second round Tyler beat Evan Holvoet: 6-2,6-4.
In the third Round he beat the 13th seed Michael Plutt who is #13 in state and #166 in the nation. The score was 7-5,6-1.
In the fourth round Tyler lost to the 3rd seed, Elio Livi, who is #5 in the state and #9 in the nation. The score was 6-2,6-4.
Tyler will be 1 of 18 boys to represent Florida in the USTA Zone Team Championships July 22-27 in Knoxville, TN.
